The Japanese attack on Timor is largely historical, except for the timing on the attack.

Sparrow force was mostly defending in the  South at Koepang, and the story action focuses on that battle and the unit’s attempt to move east into Dutch West Timor. Japanese Naval supremacy allow them to land anywhere, which is a major trump card in this action.


Off Bali, this is a map of the historical Battle of the Badung Strait as fought by Admiral Doorman in an attempt to stop the Japanese landings.

In this action, two intrepid Japanese destroyers face down a host of Allied cruisers and destroyers and come off the better!

Below: The historical Japanese landing sites on Java, largely followed in this story. Montgomery planned to hold western Java, particularly Batavia. Events in the Sunda Strait force both sides to reconsider plans.
